Lane Kawaoka grew up in Hawaii and made his first investment at 13. With the $2,000 he earned picking pineapples on Maui, he bought a $500 ukulele and put the rest into a Roth IRA.

He earned a BS in Industrial Engineering and an MS in Civil Engineering and Construction Management from the University of Washington, then spent 12 years as a licensed Professional Engineer. In 2009 he bought his first rental in Seattle. When prices there stopped making sense for cash flow, he moved his portfolio into single-family rentals in Birmingham, Atlanta, Indianapolis and Pennsylvania, and later into multifamily syndications.

Through The Wealth Elevator, his investor community has taken part in $2.1B of real estate acquisitions, with 10,000+ units acquired across 65+ projects and $230M+ raised from investors. Lane uses his engineering background to reverse-engineer how the wealthy build and protect wealth, and he teaches it to busy professionals through The Wealth Elevator podcast and his two Amazon bestsellers, The Wealth Elevator and Simple Passive Cashflow. He also covers oil and gas as a tax strategy and pre-IPO investing. He lives in Honolulu.
